Robert Odom was born in Palestine, Texas. He was an Endowed Academic Scholar at Houston Baptist University and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1987. Robert then attended South Texas College of Law from 1987-1990 and Yale University Graduate School from 1990-1992.
He started his career as a partner in The Property Tax Company as a tax consultant, representing companies like Air Liquide in negotiations with taxing authorities. In his tenure there, he argued hundreds of cases in front of tax districts all over the country and never lost a hearing. From 1999-2000, Robert was a very successful NADAQ stocks day trader. He entered the brokerage business in mid 2000 with Smith Barney. Having raised $120 million, Robert finished first out of 140 new brokers and set records on first year production. In 2003, Merrill-Lynch offered Robert five states exclusively in order to put them into the settlement services business with the promise of the entire country once the business was established. In 2005, he started Lonestar Settlements in partnership with Millennium Settlements. Having worked with several other structured settlement firms in the past, Robert is convinced that Millennium Settlements is the best settlement firm in the country.
With Smith Barney and Merrill-Lynch, Robert managed well over $100 million. Specializing in Mass Tort settlements, Robert has successfully ran multiple settlements from coordinating experts in medicare/medicaid to advising attorneys on evaluation of settlement values. His experience in money management of injured people has benefited hundreds of people. It is Robert’s belief that most people need a balance of investments with a structured annuity in order to create a predictable income and safety net in case things do not go as expected with their conventional investment.
Robert holds a Series 7, 63, 65 insurance license. He has earned the distinguished Certified Structured Settlement Consultant designation through the NSSTA program developed in conjunction with the University of Notre Dame Mendoza College of Business Executive Education Program.
Outside of the structured settlement consulting business, Robert spends his time with his family. Robert and his wife, Jamie Lee, are proud parents of their 12 year old daughter, Hannah. She is a very bright and special child and brings Robert his greatest joy in life. Hannah teaches Robert more than he could ever hope to teach her.
One of Robert’s greatest personal accomplishments has been achieving the title as the 1983 United States Champion as a Black Belt in Karate.
